Getting to know… Martha Collings – Edition 10 ![]()

For our next edition, we’re heading back over the barriers — and into the playlists — with Martha Collings: steeplechaser, team motivator, and the unofficial club queen of Ticketmaster.

Martha’s main event? The steeplechase — though she’s just as dangerous over anything from 1500 m upwards.
“I got into steeplechase through Kay Trinder training me up to make sure she had someone to score in the SAL! (No — she was actually giving us a chance to try a new fun event!)” ![]()

Athletics has given her a lot — not least perspective.
“Apart from some of my best friends, it’s given me resilience and a mental getaway from whatever’s happening. Just getting out the door for a run puts a lot into perspective and helps you think clearer.” ![]()

When it comes to celebrating, it’s all about the team moments.
“The best way to celebrate has to be getting together as a team at the pub and just chatting about what we’ve all achieved! My favourite was after we got promoted to Surrey League Division 1 — we were all on such a high!” ![]()

Her proudest moments? Two chapters worth noting.
“Winning English Schools as a junior (twice!) over the 1500 m steeplechase. And more recently, finishing my first half marathon for Birmingham Children’s Hospital — and catching the longer-distance bug! Watch this space for half marathon #2…” ![]()

And one fun fact for the WAC crowd?
“I think my teammates know pretty much everything about me
but I love music — and my talent is getting Ticketmaster tickets for me and my friends!” ![]()

(Editor’s note: national titles, new distances, and Ticketmaster triumphs — Martha’s proving she’s the WAC Swiftie we didn’t know we needed.) ![]()

Thanks for sharing your story, Martha — and for reminding us that resilience, rhythm, and a good post-race pint make the perfect mix. ![]()
