Getting to Know… Fraser Chamley – Edition 20 ![]()

If you remember Episode 12, you’ll know his wife Claire. Well… today it’s time for the other half of that Woking AC power duo.

And with the number of couples we seem to have these days, we’re starting to think that interval sessions might secretly be the new date night.
Meet Fraser Chamley — the kind of runner every club wishes they had.
Turn up to a race in horizontal rain? Fraser’s there.
Cross-country mud up to your ankles? Fraser’s there.
Road League at 9am in February? Fraser is definitely there.
If there’s a vest to be worn and points to be scored, Fraser shows up, pins on the number, and gets the job done. ![]()
He started running after university.
“I started running as a way to get fit — basically my own version of couch to 5k. When I moved to Woking, I signed up for the Surrey Half in 2017. I’d never run more than a parkrun. It was tough, took me just over two hours, and once I could walk again a few days later… I was hooked.”
He and Claire later joined a social running group at the Run Company — and that eventually led them to Woking AC.
“I came down for a session and loved it. Gamble convinced me to sign up on the spot.”
Fraser’s favourite event is the Surrey Road League, especially the half marathon.
“Since joining Woking AC, I’ve taken almost 30 minutes off my half marathon time. That’s down to the support, structure and training here.”
And as the 2026 Surrey Road League calendar has just dropped… it’s officially time for all of us to start signing up. ![]()
Running has become his way to reset.
“It’s my main way to de-stress — whether it’s a short run after work or a long weekend run with my wife. It’s helped me push my boundaries and keep going when things feel tough. Track sessions have become a fixture of my week — the group keeps me going for ‘one more rep’, even in the pouring rain.”
Celebrating is simple:
“There’s nothing quite like a cool beer after a hard race — even better when you get to celebrate with the rest of the club.” ![]()
His proudest moment?
“Running 18:35 at the Woking AC 5k Blast in June — taking about a minute off my PB. I’d been chasing sub-20 for years… and honestly never thought I’d get near this before joining Woking.”
And one fun fact:
“I’m a big history nerd — I love reading about the fall of the Roman Empire or the Age of Revolution.”
(Editor’s note: Fraser is the definition of commitment. Rain? There. Mud? There. Early Sunday starts? Always there. One of the most dependable, hardworking members of the club — and yes, part of WAC’s ever-growing list of couples. At this rate, we may genuinely need a Woking AC Couples Relay. ![]()
